Starting Therapy
1. What can therapy help me with?
Therapy can support you through various challenges such as anxiety, stress, relationship issues, low self-esteem, and life transitions. It provides a safe and confidential space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and patterns, and helps you develop healthier coping strategies.
2. What if I'm nervous or unsure about starting therapy?
It's normal to feel anxious or hesitant about beginning therapy, especially if it's your first time. Reaching out and asking questions is a significant first step. I'm here to provide reassurance, address any concerns you may have, and help you feel more at ease before you commit to the process.
3. What happens in the first session?
During our initial consultation, we'll discuss what brought you to therapy, your background, and what you hope to achieve. It's also an opportunity for you to get a sense of my approach and determine if it aligns with your needs.
4. How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or need someone to talk to who can offer impartial guidance and support, therapy might be beneficial. Everyone's situation is unique, so I encourage you to get in touch, ask questions, and see if you feel a connection with this approach.
How Therapy Works
1. How many sessions will I need?
There's no one-size-fits-all answer. I often start with six sessions and then review your progress and goals to ensure you're on track. Some people find a few sessions helpful, while others continue for a longer term to explore and grow deeper.
2. What therapeutic approaches do you use?
I blend Person-Centred, Humanistic, and Integrative methods, tailoring our work to your individual needs and preferences. This flexible framework allows us to adjust techniques as we progress, ensuring your therapy remains relevant and practical for you.
3. How is progress measured or reviewed?
We'll check in regularly—about every six sessions—to reflect on changes, recognise progress, and identify new or ongoing areas of concern. This review process ensures we stay aligned with your goals and can adjust our approach if needed.
Session Details
1. Do you offer online sessions?
While I generally find that in-person sessions can foster a deeper therapeutic connection, I understand that life can sometimes make it hard to attend in person. In these cases, I do offer online sessions. If you choose an online session, please ensure you're in a private, quiet space so we can maintain confidentiality and make the most of our time together.
2. How long is each session and how often do we meet?
Each session lasts 50 minutes. Many clients prefer weekly or fortnightly appointments to maintain momentum, but we'll determine a schedule that suits your needs.
3. What are your fees, and how do I pay?
My fee for each session is €60, and you have several payment options available. I accept cash, card, or Revolut, and you can also make a secure payment through my website when scheduling your appointment.
4. What is your cancellation policy?
I understand that life happens. However, to respect both our schedules, I request at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Missed sessions without adequate notice may incur a fee.
Confidentiality & Privacy
1. Are sessions confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is at the heart of our work together. I adhere to strict ethical guidelines to ensure that what you share remains private.
2. When could confidentiality be broken?
Confidentiality will only be broken if there's a serious risk of harm to yourself or others, or if required by law. If any such situation arises, I will make every effort to discuss it with you first.
3. How is my personal information stored and protected?
I take data protection very seriously. All records are stored securely, whether in encrypted digital files or locked physical storage, ensuring only authorised access.
